Building a Better DAW
Wavy Labs is an independent project building a next-generation digital audio workstation from the ground up.
Wavy Labs is a free, open-source AI-powered DAW forked from LMMS (GPL-2.0). It combines a Qt6/C++ audio engine with a Python AI backend — bringing generative music, stem splitting, vocal synthesis, and an intelligent chat assistant to a full-featured desktop DAW.
Core Principles
The ideas driving development.
Performance First
Built on LMMS — a proven, battle-tested Qt6/C++ audio engine. Low-latency, glitch-free processing is the foundation everything else is built on.
Built for Creators
Every feature is designed from the perspective of a music producer. The goal is a DAW that stays out of your way and lets you focus on making music.
Truly Open Source
Wavy Labs is GPL-2.0 licensed and free forever. Source code is on GitHub. Bring your own API keys — no subscriptions, no paywalls, no lock-in.
